A Tempo

A tempo: Sculpture in four movements | Kika Vargas runway show at BCapital, an annual fashion event that takes place in the city of Bogotá | Stage designer

A Tempo gives an unconventional approach to a runway show through theatrical techniques. Live musicians, actors, dancers and an opera singer join the models on a carefully choreographed performance.

A Tempo took a playful approach to seasons since a tropical country has no seasons. Still, the fashion calendar is ruled by them. Each movement brings a new wave of movement that enlivens the scenario. The stage is inspired by nature: a geological abstraction that dialogued closely with the inspiration of the collection.

Fake News 24/7

– In collaboration with Hau Yuan, Jiyao Zhang and Marco Wylie

Breaking News 24/7 is an interactive window display that makes people question what is real and what is fake. For this project, we designed the whole window as a giant TV screen displaying problematic and controversial news we found on the Internet. The newscaster, the iconic and most appealing element of our project, is a Pinocchio, who is notably characterized for his frequent tendency to lie, which causes his nose to grow. We borrowed this concept from a nearly universal cultural icon to symbolize “lie.”

Breaking News 24/7 was showed at Skirball Center for the Performing Arts as part of POP UP WINDOWS 2018 and at Tisch School of the Arts main window for ITP WINTER SHOW 2018
